Javier Marin is the bureau chief for EFE's Sub-Saharan Africa office in Nairobi. With fifteen years of experience working in the leading Spanish spoken news agency and the fourth largest in the world, he is a multimedia journalist focused in conflict, human rights and justice.
Based in Kenya, he has covered major events in the recent history of the region, like Nelson Mandela's funeral in South Africa, the terror attacks in Kenya (Westgate mall and Garissa) or the Pope Francis first visit to Africa.
Javier has also a background in Cinema studies and plans to film his first documentary thanks to the Innovation in Development Reporting Grant Programme (IDR).
This project explores the unknown lead poisoning caused by car battery recycling plants in African communities.
